During
the War of 1812, Winslow L. Knowles (father to four seafaring
sons that grew up in the Old Manse Inn on Cape Cod), did something
few captains ever dared at the time: he began running the
British blockade of Boston.
An incredible adventure
tale, it began with a whaleboat, and ended with the capture
of a British warship that was enforcing the blockade. Not
only did it become a legend in its own time, the feat is still
being written about by historians to this very day.
