Our coziest Standard guest room with queen-size bed located at the end of hall on the 2nd floor.  Recently renovated during the off season of 2017, Highland Light now has gorgeous hardwood floors that used to be covered by burgundy wall-to-wall carpet!  Soft and elegant now, this room was originally called the Garden Room.  We are not sure why unless it was due to the original flower motif of the entire room’s walllpaper.  Scaled back considerably, it is now just incorporated as an accent to remember the bygone days of this great room. Snuggle up in the four-poster, early pine wood bed that directly faces our hand-tiled fireplace, popular in great houses during those early days, and you might not want to get out of bed in the morning! Take in the views from the 4 corner windows of two beautiful New England churches, that especially during a late season snow storm, walk you back in time as the snow falls in front of the candle-sconced windows of the churches. Renovations for Highland, besides the hardwood flooring, include brand new bedding to blend in with the new soft colors of the room with 2 new sitting chairs and writing desk plus brand new Mitsubishi air conditioning.  The bathroom now has warm wainscoting and a larger, brand new tiled shower. Add a flat screen cable TV with a DVD player inside the TV itself, a closet for your storage needs and a central power center for all charging needs and the conveniences are complete.

Room Availability

I have stayed at several different b+b's at this point, on the Cape and elsewhere, and this is hands down my favorite. Never have I seen a b+b so tastefully kept. We stayed in one of the newer deluxe rooms, and it was beautifully decorated and just plain immaculate. Some b+b's can be pretty frumpy, with the drapes matching the wallpaper matching the bedspread (yuck!), but this one was anything but. Comfy, quiet, relaxing, modern. The common areas were also gorgeous.

Old Manse Inn COVID-19 Update

Updated October 3, 2020

Dear Old Manse Inn Family,

We are finally open for the season - and now indoor / outdoor dining is allowed as well!  :)

Charlie and Brian hope that this note finds you all doing well and staying safe. We have missed you and we are certainly looking forward to seeing and hosting you all once again!!  We subscribe to the idea that we can achieve our best selves here at the Inn by working towards the common good.  This includes the safety and well-being of our guests - and our great staff!

At the direction of the state of Massachusetts, we were allowed to re-open as of Monday, June 8th.  To our delight and surprise, we were then allowed to do indoor dining starting on Monday, June 22nd.  This also means that all local restaurants are allowed to begin indoor dining service as well!  Please contact individual restaurants for the services they are providing, including any need for a reservation.

Effective Saturday August 1st, Governor Baker of MA announced that all travelers entering Massachusetts - both out of state residents and Massachusetts residents returning home—must comply with a new travel order.  The new travel order requires all visitors and returning residents to fill out a Massachusetts Traveler Form, unless they are coming from a state that has been designated a lower-risk COVID-19 state or fall into an exemption category.  As of Fri., 10/2, the lower-risk COVID-19 states are CT, DC, ME, NH, NY, and VT.  All lodging entities are required to inform guests at the time of booking.  The new travel order also provides that visitors and returning residents arriving in Massachusetts from any place other than a COVID-19 lower risk state must quarantine for 14 days unless they can produce a negative COVID-19 test result administered on a sample taken not more than 72 hours prior to arriving in Massachusetts.  As of Fri., 10/2, CO, DE, HI, NJ, NM, OR, PA, RI, WA, WV and WY are no longer exempt from the MA travel restrictions.

Brian was appointed to work on the Brewster Reopening Advisory Board so that the public and private entities that make up our great town work together on the State of Massachusetts restrictions and guidelines that pertain to us.  We will be communicating those guidelines and available options to all guests as their arrival dates approach.  We will also be requesting responses from each guest to make sure individual needs are taken into account as well.  Where possible, and with some creativity, we hope to still provide all of the amenities that you are used to enjoying here at the Inn!  We feel that the precautions are the socially-responsible choice and will support a more favorable long-term outcome for the communities and guests that support us.

If you have any questions or need more details, please reach out directly to Brian at the Inn via email (innkeeper@oldmanseinn.com or phone 508-896-3149). We will be monitoring the evolving situation constantly as we move forward so that we can welcome you all for a great stay!  In the meantime, we are now accepting reservations for the Summer & Fall seasons - and beyond!

We hope you will join us as we know everyone needs that time away these days to re-charge after the last few months.

All Our Best,

Brian & Charlie
